NEW YORK, NY -- The first sale of the new year saw prices soar as bidders from across the country and abroad vied for stylish furniture, decorations and art in the popular Doyle at Home auction. Highlighting the January 11, 2022 sale was property from two prominent collections -- the Estate of legendary fashion executive Dawn Mello and Property of a Residence Designed by Hutton Wilkinson, Tony Duquette Inc.
Within competitive bidding, the sale totaled a successful $867,350, more than doubling the pre-sale estimate of $263,280-407,740, with an exceptional 99% sold by lot and 100% sold by value.
The Estate of Dawn Mello
Doyle was honored to auction property from the Estate of Dawn Mello. An influential figure in luxury fashion and retailing, she transformed Bergdorf Goodman into a world class luxury emporium showcasing the era’s hottest designers (Read More). Her collection of stylish art, furniture and decorations reflects her sophisticated and discerning eye for quality and design. Property from the Estate of Dawn Mello comprised lots 111-168 in the sale.
A Residence Designed by Hutton Wilkinson, Tony Duquette Inc.
As the Creative Director and President of Tony Duquette Inc., Hutton Wilkinson has designed stylish interiors for homes around the world, from his native California to Paris and Venice, as well as a palace in Jeddah and a penthouse in Bangkok. At eighteen, he apprenticed under the legendary American design icon, Tony Duquette, first as volunteer apprentice, then as a paid assistant designer before starting his own interior design firm and collaborating with Tony Duquette over the next 25 years. Mr. Wilkson is the author of four books on the Tony Duquette’s designs and is president of The Anthony and Elizabeth Duquette Foundation for the Living Arts, a non-profit private foundation dedicated to preserving and promoting the works of Tony Duquette.
